LIBERTY OF LONDON

Home of Art Nouveau Prints
Liberty is a long-established Tudor department store on Regent Street in London. The shop opened in 1875 selling ornaments, fabric and objets d'art from Japan and the East and soon became the most fashionable place to shop in London. Liberty fabrics were famously used for both clothing and furnishings. Liberty's clientele was exotic and included well-known members of the Pre-Raphaelite movement. The store and its founders became instrumental in the development of the Art Nouveau movement through its encouragement of young artists from Europe and Asia.

Today, Liberty of London, the design arm of the store, draws on Liberty's design heritage, collaborating with contemporary artists and designers to create luxury scarves and accessories for the discerning customer.
